BREAKING: Man Arrested For Saturday Shooting
Mayor Christenson said police continue to investigate Saturday morning's first shooting.
Note: The following was submitted by Mayor Gary Christenson.
I am pleased to announce the arrest of Daniel Rossetti of Medford on a warrant charging him with one count of attempted murder in connection with the shooting incident that took place this past Saturday afternoon on Middlesex Street.
Rossetti was arrested in Chelsea earlier this morning after a long manhunt.
I would like to thank Lt. Marc Gatcomb and the entire Malden Police Department for spearheading this investigation and for keeping the community informed throughout this ordeal.
I also want to thank the State Police, Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, the Middlesex District Attorney’s office and the FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force for their assistance with this arrest. This was truly a team effort.
I am continuing to work with the Police Chief and his team on initiatives to further address acts of violence in the City. I hope to announce these ideas at the August 27th Public Safety Awareness meeting outdoors at Lincoln Commons on Cross Street from 6-8 pm. I am working to have a representative of the Middlesex District Attorney’s office in attendance.
In the case of inclement weather, the meeting will be held in the Suffolk Manor Community Room, 314 Bryant Street.

Does that mean we can take his picture down now? Because it's totally squicking me out.

once again its a resident from another city that makes this city look bad, and is it me, or do gotees make a guy look like he kissed the wrong end of a horse?

That doesn't make sense to me. So what does all the Malden people commiting crimes in other places do for this city? Just don't get what you're saying sorry.

Anyone else curious why only one city council member issued a statement regarding these incidents this summer? Very conspicuous in their silence. Next Monday's Public Safety Forum will be vital to me as I'll be interested in more than just what Mayor Christenson has to say...his choice of words as well an the need for out of the box thinking will be crucial...i just hope he sought counsel outside of the people who have been on watch in this city for some time...new ideas, creative thinking and experienced experts are available...the city council as a whole doesn't fill me with confidence they can come up with the right plan without seeking expert advice and assistance. We'll see but do we have time to go through trial and error plans? Let's hope its not more rhetoric but substantial plan outlined in detail. I'll be listening for certain things.

I do remember that the majority of those on the city council voted to cut the police several years ago. If I remember correctly only Christensen and Fallon voted against it. A few of the council members are new so I won't judge them right now. We have less police now even with the three new ones then we did ten years ago.

Great job MPD! Can't believe this guy was hiding out in Chelsea. Really? If you're up for attempted murder, you wouldn't skip states at least?

Tony - Look at the picture accompanying this article. Got it fixed in your mind's eye? Now. Read what you just wrote. Do that face look like someone that would do anything *but* hide out in the local area? Come on. :p
OK. Now, go pour bleach in your mind's eye to get rid of that image.
