UPDATE: Maine Quake Felt in Boston Area Downgraded to 4.0

Small tremors were felt in the Greater Boston area after a 4.0 magnitude Earthquake near Lake Arrowhead, Maine around 7:12 p.m. Tuesday night. 

Gov. Deval Patrick released a statement confirming no reported injuries in the commonwealth, but said the state would continue to monitor the situation. 

The epicenter of the quake was about 92 miles from Boston.

"Residents should use caution if they encounter any damage and take a minute to check in on neighbors, family and friends," he said.

Social media exploded with local readers commenting about the Earthquake, with folks saying they felt nothing at all to others reporting significant shakes. 

"I felt it! It scared the heck out of me!" Carol Merletti commented on our Facebook page. 

"I have friends and relatives in Wakefield Amesbury. Groveland. Wakefield. All felt it," Darlene Leblanc Luke said. 

Readers may remember the last major east coast Earthquake, when tremors from Virginia stretched throughout the seaboard in August 2011.
