Not really. The city doesn't even have a camera in that area to see if there were a vehicle involved. I wouldn't mind, but it's in the middle of Malden Square, at one of the busiest intersections in the city. Near a drug store, bank, and the Cheverus School, among all the other business there.

Maybe they should consider having at least two "Beat Cops" in Malden Square, to cover such a big area, and expand their hours of service from the current 10AM-6PM timeframe on weekdays, to include weekends too.

They should hire some cops then. We have a lot less cops than we used to because of some former spin doctors.

So, funny story. I was at the Exchange St. Bistro a couple of nights ago, and as I'm walking down Exchange St., I saw a patrol supervisor in his vehicle sitting at the Eastern Bank. So a couple of hours later, walking back the other way -- officer is still sitting there..... reading the paper.

Now, I'm not one to tell someone how to do their job, but....

Whenver I go through Melrose Center there is always an officer on foot walking around on Main Street., it's usually the same Sargent all the time. He must know all the store owners on his beat really well. I never see an officer walking in Maplewood or Malden square

Well, Mike....I can top that one....back in 2006, I was walking thru Forestdale Cemetary with my dog, and I saw one of Malden's Police's supervisor sitting in his car . That was around 3:00PM. I walked thru that same area in the back around 3 hours later, and that SAME supervisor was sitting in that same car, in the area near the path to Pink Banks. I'm sure everyone else is familiar with it. The second go around, Mr Supervisor approached me to 'inform' me that I can't walk my dog thru the cemetary. I quipped back "isn't loitering also not allowed?" He asked me what I meant. So I informed him I saw HIM loitering three hours before. He then said "you have a good evening, sir!" and drove off :)

It's entirely possible that someone, somewhere was, and what anyone else does for a living is irrelevant. There's simply no reason for a cruiser to sit in one spot for hours. They're cars. Drive them around. It's what they're for.
