5 Things You Need to Know Wednesday, Sept. 28

The weather, the warning signs of hoarding and more.

1. Cooler today: It will be cloudy Wednesday morning, with highs around 70 degrees. Night temperatures will cool to the upper 50s, with a 40 percent chance of rain.

2. Hoarding 101: Susan Donaldson of Hallmark Health's Outpatient Psychiatry clinic will be offering a free class on the signs of hoarding – sometimes described as “chronic clutter” behavior - and offer suggestions on approaching individuals exhibiting such symptoms.

The presentation will start at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Senior Center Auditorium. A free lunch will be served. For more information or to make a reservation, call (781) 397-7144.

3. Howard to Winchester?: Outgoing mayor Richard C. Howard confirmed he is one of four finalists under consideration for a town manager position in Winchester next year.

The Winchester Board of Selectmen plans on holding interviews with all the candidates – Howard, Saugus Town Manager Andrew R. Bisignani, Swampscott Town Administrator Andrew W. Maylor and Belmont Town Administrator Thomas G. Younger – next Wednesday, Oct. 5.

4. Your questions, your vote: Readers, we need your help – what issues will be on your mind in the voting booth this year? Let editor Chris Caesar know at Chris.Caesar@patch.com and we'll use your ideas in shaping our coverage as the big day approaches.

5. ESL Class: A conversational English class will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Malden Public Library. The event, held weekly, helps beginning speakers practice their skills and learn new words.
