Switchbox Project: 2012 Call to Artists

Spring is in the air, and to us that means it's time to get out and paint.

The switchbox project is in its 3rd year, and we're calling local Malden artist’s to design and paint the metal utility boxes at lighted intersections throughout the city.

The purpose of the project is to beautify the city
while at the same time showcasing the arts within its borders.

Approved artists will receive a $150 stipend to paint their art on their switchbox. Any artist who lives or works in Malden is eligible to apply for a box. This project is a great way to give their community a sense of
warmth and personality, while getting their art out there. 14 boxes were painted in 2010, and we hope to paint 20 more this summer.
