Malden Cyclones Jr. Peewee Cheerleaders Win New England Championship, Compete At Disney World

The Malden Cyclones Jr. Peewee cheerleading team competed at Disney World in Orlando, Florida at the "2011 Pop Warner Super Bowl and National Cheer & Dance Championships" on December 5th.

Spirits were high and smiles were everywhere.  The girls performed their hearts out and it was a great show.

We started the season off on August 1st with a goal to WIN & have FUN.  Our team had a mixture of returning cheerleaders and new cheerleaders so we had a lot of work ahead of us.  As the days & months went on the girls dedicated their summer nights to practicing like champs. Each night we were overcoming goals and becoming a team/family.  Even though we are 8, 9, 10 years old that didn’t stop us from becoming the BEST we could be.  I have never seen a group of girls that young work so hard to accomplish their goals.

In October, the Jr. Peewee’s took the mat with pride & excellence.  It wasn’t our best performance but we walked off the mat with our heads held high and smiles on our face.  But that didn’t stop us from being titled the GBL CHAMPS.  A few weeks later we competed for the Eastern Mass Title, they hit a near perfect routine and showed the crowd what cheering is all about. Their performance won them the Eastern Mass Champs.

As we moved on the competition was getting harder, we went back to practice each night and added more difficulty to our routine.  We had come a long way from August 1st and these young ladies put everything they had into practice, so they could be better than the last competition.

In November, as a team we took the floor like never before.  They performed with confidence, energy and their team spirit excited the crowd to the very end. You could tell we were working as a family because they had another perfect routine and was titled the New England Regional Champs.

This was our teams first time ever going to Disney. As we were preparing for Disney, we knew we were going up against the best of the best but that didn’t stop us.  We were going to show everyone how much we loved cheering.  They performed with spirit and excitement and did a GREAT job.  This is an experience that they will never forget.  We might not have won a National title but we had a great season and we ended the season in Disney.  Not many teams can say that.  As the Head Coach, I’m VERY proud of my team and all the parents that helped make this dream come TRUE.
